My dog Petey was seen by Dr. Kathyrn McPherson, McPherson Veterinary Services, in Murfreesboro, TN for limping on his back leg. Dr. McPherson said Petey had torn his ACL and recommended I talk to Dr. Todd Murphy, a board certified surgeon, about treatment options. I met Dr. Todd Murphy at McPherson Veterinary Services where he thoroughly examined Petey and agreed with Dr. McPherson’s findings. Dr. Murphy spend nearly 30 minutes explaining Petey’s torn ACL and the treatment options. Dr. Murphy performed a TPLO for fixing Petey’s knee and I must say Petey has done fantastic. Dr. Todd Murphy has been great to work with. He gave me very detailed instructions and whenever I had a question he answered his phone with helpful advice. Petey is once again running around and chasing his frisbee like nothing had every happened. Dr. Kathyrn McPherson and Dr. Todd Murphy are both fantastic vets who love what they are doing!!

My dog and I were playing in the park the spring when he started limping after tripping while chasing the frisbee. After a week I took him to my regular vet, Dr. Woody in Franklin, where Amos was diagnosed with a torn ACL. Dr. Woody called Dr. Murphy in, a board certified surgery to look at his knee. Dr. Murphy examined Amos and confirmed he tore his ACL. Dr. Murphy recommended a TPLO to fix his knee. It was a very complicated procedure based on Dr. Murphy’s detailed explanation but the only thing really to get Amos, 90 pound labrador, back to the park. Dr. Murphy performed the surgery at Dr. Woody’s hospital in early March 2013 and Amos has done fantastic. Dr. Murphy was great to work with. He gave me very detailed discharge instructions which included his cell phone number. I was hesitant to call Dr. Murphy but had to twice. Dr. Murphy was very helpful and even followed up with a text to see how Amos was. Well, It’s been four months now and Amos is as good as new. We go to the park and he is once again chasing the frisbee. I couldn’t be happier with Dr. Murphy and the outcome. Amos and I give Dr. Murphy four paws up!!!

I was referred to Dr Murphy by Dr Tim Tomlinson at Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital in Brentwood after my little Poodle Missy got hit by a car and broke her leg. Dr Murphy came in and reviewed all my options to fix Missy and answered all of my questions. Dr Murphy fixed Missy with screws and a plate and Missy did fantastic. Dr Murphy was great to work with. He gave me his cell phone number which I could call or text with questions. The first few days was tough because I didn’t know what to do or expect but Dr Murphy helped me through that time. Also Dr Murphy’s fees were alot more affordable than the referral hospital in town that I called. If it weren’t for Dr Murphy I do not know what I would have done to fix Missy. It is now six months since Missy was hit by the car and she is as good as new! Thank you Dr Murphy for helping Missy. Stacey P

Thank you Dr Murphy! I just took Greta in for her four week recheck and Dr Smith agrees she looks fantastic. Four weeks ago our little Greta who is a Dachshund ruptured a disk in her back. She couldn’t walk. Dr Murphy came to Dr Smiths practice, examined her and told us she needed surgery to relieve the compression on her spinal cord. They performed a myelogram and then took her to surgery. It was a hard first two weeks but around day 15 she started to stand and move her back legs again. She is now able to get around- she still looks a little drunk but oh so much better. Dr Murphy says we still have room for improvement and it’s still really early. We are so excited to see our Greta doing so well. Again, thank you Dr Murphy for your skills, your compassion, and your many reassuring text 🙂

I took my dog to Dr. Murphy about six months ago after my regular vet diagnosed a torn ACL. Buddy is a four year old, crazy active Labrador who cannot put his ball down to save his life. Dr. Murphy thoroughly examined Buddy, confined my vets diagnosis of a torn cranial cruciate ligament, and recommended a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy or TPLO. Dr. Murphy even drew a picture to make the procedure more understandable.
Buddy had surgery where the ligament was found to be completely torn and there was also a meniscal tear. Dr. Murphy performed the TPLO and I couldn’t be happier with how Buddy has done. Dr. Murphy provided a very detailed list of instructions and physical therapy exercises to help Buddy recover more quickly. Dr. Murphy was always available when I had a question. I had Dr. Murphy’s cell phone as well as his email and found that texting was super easy and alleviated my stress on a few instances.
Buddy did great! He was healed at eight weeks based on the xrays Dr. Murphy took just as he had said he would. Today Buddy is chasing his ball like nothing had ever happened. Thanks Dr. Murphy:)!

Dr Murphy has been a true friend to our family in caring for all 4 of our large breed pups. He has operated on all 4 to great success and gone way beyond the call by coming by our home and following up on their care. He is an extraodinary man and surgeon.
